Resumen: | El objetivo de esta investigación es evaluar el proceso de producción de biobutanol utilizando bagazo de malta como fuente de carbono, con el fin de desarrollar una estrategia para mejorar la gestión de residuos lignocelulósicos. Para lograr este objetivo, se llevaron a cabo experimentos a escala de laboratorio que incluyeron la hidrólisis ácida del bagazo de malta para liberar azúcares fermentables y su posterior fermentación anaeróbica utilizando la bacteria Clostridium acetobutylicum. La metodología consistió en: pretratamiento físico del bagazo, hidrólisis ácida para obtener azúcares, cuantificación de azúcares en el hidrolizado, preparación del medio de fermentación, inoculación y fermentación y, por último, se propone un diseño conceptual a escala piloto del proceso de producción de biobutanol. |
Abstract: | The objective of this research is to evaluate the biobutanol production process using malt bagasse as a carbon source, in order to develop a strategy to improve the management of lignocellulosic waste. To achieve this objective, laboratory-scale experiments were carried out that included acid hydrolysis of malt bagasse to release fermentable sugars and its subsequent anaerobic fermentation using the bacterium Clostridium acetobutylicum. The methodology consisted of: physical pretreatment of the bagasse, acid hydrolysis to obtain sugars, quantification of sugars in the hydrolysate, preparation of the fermentation medium, inoculation and fermentation and, finally, a pilot-scale conceptual design of the biobutanol production process is proposed. |
