Resumen: | La presente monografía tiene como fin estudiar los impactos sociales y ambientales que genera la minería aurífera en la subregión del Bajo Cauca antioqueño ubicada al norte del país, la actividad a profundizar es la extracción de oro que tiene una representatividad del 90% a nivel económico en la región durante los últimos años que se ve contrastado por los impactos sociales y ambientales, ya que han transformado más de 40.000 hectáreas en zonas contaminados, deforestados y desérticas (Cuevas, 2014). La representatividad que tiene el Bajo Cauca a nivel del oro extraído es casi del 60% en el departamento de Antioquia y en el país del 40%, siendo la fuente más importante de ganancia en la región (Bonilla-Calle, 2023a). |
Abstract: | The purpose of this monograph is to study the social and environmental impacts generated by gold mining in the Bajo Cauca subregion of Antioquia, located in the north of the country. The activity to be studied in depth is gold extraction, which represents 90% of the economic value of the region in recent years, which is contrasted by the social and environmental impacts, since more than 40,000 hectares have been transformed into contaminated, deforested and desert areas (Cuevas, 2014). The representation of Bajo Cauca in terms of extracted gold is almost 60% in the department of Antioquia and 40% in the country, being the most important source of profit in the region (Bonilla-Calle, 2023a). |
